Picture Perfect
Love can make us forget that we are human
In love, I can look at you and only witness God
I hate it when your humanity disrupts my infatuation
I want to love you softly, but my imagination forces my hand
I want to love you without the menace of my expectations painting you out to be someone you are not
But I often get lost in my eyes view of your potential
They don’t recognize you in the light
Carefully painting over your flaws
And covering up your faults with excuse
Don’t look too closely
My pores aren’t good at holding lies or keeping secrets
They open every chance they get
I wonder what I would think of you
If my heart was just as honest
